Cambridge, Maryland · Family water since 1950

Generations on the Choptank.

Dad's Crabs is a Cambridge family outfit — Chesapeake Bay watermen and crab-house people going back to 1950. Same water, same dock, same steam pot. Now the whole ritual ships in one box.

The story

Seventy-five years, one recipe.

Dad's has worked these waters since 1950 — generations of the same family buying off licensed Dorchester County boats we know by name. Same captains, same creeks, same handshake at the dock.

Every basket gets culled by hand before it leaves the shed. Light crabs go back. What's left is what Dad would put on his own table — then it hits the pot over rock salt and Dad's Choptank Blend, same as the backyard feasts we grew up on.

The boats changed. The pot didn't. Today the whole ritual — crabs, pot, mallets, bibs, paper, seasoning — rides in one branded box, steamed the day we deliver, Cambridge dock to your door.

The way Dad does it

Three rules the water taught us

1
Boats we know by name

Licensed Dorchester County watermen, Choptank and Little Choptank water. We buy at the dock, not off a broker's truck.

2
Culled by hand

Every bushel sorted crab by crab. Light ones don't make the box — if Dad wouldn't serve it, you won't see it.

3
Steamed day-of

Your crabs hit the pot the day we deliver. Never reheated, never yesterday's catch.

Real Maryland crab

The paperwork, straight.

Maryland's True Blue program is the DNR's stamp for sellers of genuine Maryland blue crab — not imported meat wearing an Old Bay costume. Our application is in, and our Tidal Fish Dealer license number will sit right here the day it's issued.

Until then, we'll tell you straight — same as we'd tell you which basket ran light.
